With the advent of the internet and the digital age, alongside the development of novel methods for launching cyberattacks against adversaries, the world has entered the era of fifth-generation warfare. This form of warfare combines non-kinetic activities—such as social engineering, disinformation campaigns, and recruitment—with the deployment of advanced technologies including information technology and artificial intelligence to execute cyber operations. The information industry, propaganda, and disinformation constitute integral components of this warfare paradigm, which encompasses psychological warfare, information warfare, cyber warfare, and biological warfare. Fifth-generation warfare is characterized by an expansive, multidimensional battlefield and the utilization of diverse instruments beyond conventional military force. As the tempo of modern warfare accelerates, Algeria has experienced unprecedented attacks designed to tarnish its reputation, foment chaos, and disseminate misinformation and disinformation, with significant ramifications for its security and stability. Consequently, Algeria is engaged in an existential struggle against misinformation and disinformation, confronting imminent dangers that include media warfare and cyberattacks aimed at destabilizing the nation and sowing doubt within its institutions. The proliferation of unverified information, facilitated by the ease of digital dissemination, has led to the widespread phenomenon of fabricated news being weaponized to undermine national stability. Therefore, this article seeks to analyze the repercussions of fifth-generation warfare on Algeria and to delineate the framework for a proactive strategy to confront and counter these evolving threats. Keywords: war; fifth-generation warfare; national security compaign; media cmpaigns; disinformation.
