The current research sets out to gain insights into the undergraduate EFL students’ perspectives on the viability and challenges of online, as opposed to offline, assessment which they had been accustomed to during their learning before the COVID-19 pandemic. A descriptive quantitative method has been adopted using a student questionnaire as an instrument for collecting data. Results have revealed that the students held positive perspectives on online assessment, and acknowledged its significance as an inevitable means during the pandemic crisis. However, they equally indicated that online at-home assessment had its own share of difficulties, which made of it an inevitable and useful means under such special circumstances, but not a thorough substitute for offline classroom assessment which they were more accustomed to. In the end, some recommendations are suggested to address the current problematic situation.
