Abstract

This study seeks to highlight the sociological approaches that explain communication technologies and educational problems in the school environment. It begins by defining the sociological approach as a theoretical tool for analyzing social phenomena within structural, symbolic, and interactive contexts. Among the key models addressing the educational impact of digital technologies is the Uses and Gratifications Approach, which adopts a behavioral perspective to understand why students and teachers engage with digital media to fulfill cognitive, emotional, or social needs. The Network Society Approach, developed by Manuel Castells, goes further by situating schools within broader digital networks, emphasizing how technology restructures authority, learning processes, and institutional relationships. In parallel, the Cybercultural Approach focuses on the symbolic and perceptual effects of digital tools, revealing how virtual images, symbols, and representations have reshaped students' and teachers' imaginaries and bourré the boundaries between the real and the virtual. In terms of educational challenges, three main sociological approaches offer in-depth interpretations. The Structural-Functionalist Approach sees the school as a space that mirrors and reproduces existing social inequalities, which are intensified by unequal access to digital resources. The Educational Field Approach, inspired by Bourdieu, analyzes the school as a space of symbolic conflict among actors with differing levels of cultural and technological capital. Finally, the Symbolic Interactionist Approach interprets educational problems through everyday interactions within classrooms, showing how digital technologies reshape meanings, roles, and identities. Together, these approaches provide a multi-dimensional understanding of how digital transformation is reshaping both the structure and lived experience of education
