Abstract: Algeria’s national security doctrine constitutes a cornerstone of its defense and regional strategic outlook. Positioned in a geopolitically sensitive environment, the country confronts a spectrum of security threats—both conventional and asymmetric—that necessitate a coherent integration of domestic stability policies and foreign policy imperatives. Anchored in core principles such as national sovereignty, strategic autonomy, and territorial integrity, Algeria’s security approach is multidimensional and proactive. Key pillars of this doctrine include the consolidation of internal security through socio-economic resilience, and the strategic response to asymmetric and transnational threats, notably terrorism and organized crime. Algeria actively employs preventive diplomacy to foster regional cooperation while firmly adhering to the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of states. This study examines the foundational elements of Algeria’s security doctrine, including its categorical rejection of foreign military intervention, its refusal to negotiate with terrorist organizations, the institutional criminalization of ransom payments, the opposition to foreign military presence on national territory, the principle of preemptive deterrence, and the autonomy of military decision-making. The paper further analyzes the evolution of these principles in response to shifting regional and global security dynamics, particularly in the context of persistent crises in the Arab world and the African Sahel region
