Algerian Electoral Behavior Hate Speech On Social Media: An Analytical Study Of A Sample Of User Comments Regarding The November 27, 2021 Local Elections In Algeria

Abstract

This paper aims to shed light on the nature of the prevailing discourse in the written content produced by users in response to their interactions — through the comment feature — with topics related to the November 27, 2021 local elections in Algeria. This is achieved by applying discourse analysis tools, which are considered the most appropriate for such studies. The paper also attempts to explore the relationship between Algerian electoral behavior and the nature of these discourses, and whether it is possible to classify them as hate speech, which often emerges during events of this kind.
