The Algerian Feminist Novel - Origins, Development, And Distinctiveness

Abstract

The present study aims to uncover the literary distinctiveness crafted by Algerian women writers within the genre of the feminist novel, distinguishing it from its male counterpart. It explores how these writers have unified their creative visions. Viewing the novel as a recent narrative achievement within literature, it has evolved from distinct literary and historical references that have shaped its uniqueness, setting it apart from male-authored novels. The novel articulates issues central to the feminine experience, aiming to critique and reshape lived realities while challenging established cultural norms and patterns that degraded the female existence in a certain context. The Algerian feminist novel has developed a dual approach in its expression, utilizing both Arabic and French as mediums of narrative. It aims to advocate for women against the oppression of masculinity and assert their rightful claims to equality and justice
