Abstract: This study examines the dynamic relationship between electronic payment systems (BaridiMob and CIB) and economic growth in Algeria during 2018-2023 using a Vector Autoregression (VAR) framework. Employing quarterly data and controlling for inflation and unemployment, we investigate how E-payment adoption influences economic development through direct and indirect channels. The findings reveal significant bidirectional causality, with a 1% increase in electronic payments associated with a 0.55% rise in GDP growth. Variance decomposition shows that electronic payments explain 19.56% of GDP variations over ten quarters. These results provide crucial insights for policymakers in emerging economies pursuing digital transformation initiatives.
