The Problematic Relationship Between The Rule Of Law Index And Economic Growth: An Econometric Study Of The Case Of Algeria Using The Ardl Model For The Period: (2001-2023)

Abstract
This study aims to clarify the relationship between the rule of law index and economic growth in Algeria. This relationship is assumed to be positive, given that the rule of law variable provides a suitable environment that increases productivity and investment, to the extent that growth is enhanced. Using the Autoregressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) methodology, the econometric study proved the existence of a positive relationship between the rule of law index and growth in Algeria. This relationship stems from the independent variable (rule of law) providing a suitable environment for doing business, creating a real dynamic that raises productivity and growth rates. The econometric study also demonstrated the speed of the dependent variable's response to the independent variable (only two months), which shows the great importance of the rule of law index in achieving the desired growth.
