Identifying Research Gaps In Social Sciences

Abstract
Abstract: The progress of scientific research in the social sciences, and therefore its ability to contribute to solving society's problems, requires that priority must be given to identifying research gaps. This article highlights the concept and importance of research gaps and the means of identifying them, focusing on the role of the exploratory research step and the impact of this detection on the quality of scientific research and its contribution to social progress. Within the same analytical framework, this article presents some of the obstacles that can complicate the task of researchers in discovering these gaps. Based on our research experience, we have tried to provide recommendations for novice researchers, in particular for making better use of previous studies and the exploratory research step. ملخص: تقدم البحث العلمي في العلوم الاجتماعية، وإسهامه في حل مشكلات المجتمع، يقتضي إعطاء الاولوية لكشف الثغرات البحثية. هذا المقال يسلط الضوء على مفهوم الثغرة البحثية، أهميتها العلمية والمجتمعية، وسبل اكتشافها، مركزا على دور مرحلة البحث الاستطلاعي. وفي نفس إطار التحليل يعرض المقال بعض العوائق التي قد تعقّد مهمة اكتشاف الباحثين لتلك الثغرات، ونظرا لما يترتب عن إهمال اكتشاف الثغرات البحثية على جودة البحث الاجتماعي، قدمنا من وحي تجربتنا البحثية، توصيات للباحثين المبتدئين، من أجل استثمار أفضل للدراسات السابقة ومرحلة البحث الاستطلاعي.ا
