Identifying The Professional Language Skill Needs Of Economic Sciences Teachers: Insights From A Needs Analysis

Abstract

The present research aims to identify the English language needs of teachers in the Department of Economic Sciences at Mila University in order to inform the design of an effective training course. Data was collected from 30 participants via an online questionnaire. The findings revealed that their proficiency remains insufficient to meet the demands of English as medium instruction; greater difficulties were reported in speaking and writing. The study recommends the implementation of an integrated skills approach focusing on productive skills and discipline-specific vocabulary to ensure contextualized learning. The paper provides a needs-based foundation to meet the demands of higher education.
