Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between empowering leadership and organizational agility within Algerian economic enterprises by looking into the details of this type of leadership. We chose a descriptive-analytical model because it best matched the research objectives and collected data through a structured questionnaire that was administered to 394 employees from four Algerian economic enterprises, which we then analysed using the SPSS software. The results revealed that the degree of empowering leadership practised was different based on its various components, with offering support and resources having the highest mean of 3.39, while creating meaning and purpose lagging behind, averaging only 1.59. In terms of organisational agility, cooperation and technology also yielded the highest scores (averaging 3.35), while sensing and responding recorded the lowest (averaging 1.89), suggesting some of these enterprises have difficulties keeping pace with changes and responding to them. The analysis revealed the strongest relationship between empowering leadership and organisational agility, where the correlation coefficient was 0.347, statistically significant (at a significance level of α ≤ 0.05), proving that this leadership style does improve agility. On that note, when we analysed the constituents on a personal and professional level, for instance, gender, age, education, job title, and even their relevance, their value exceeded the benchmark of significance (α ≤ 0.05). This indicates that such factors did not meaningfully influence how respondents answered concerning organisational agility.
