Abstract

This study examined the legal framework governing child healthcare in Algeria, in alignment with international and regional standards, such as the Convention on the Rights of the Child and the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child. Our study highlighted the child's right to access the highest attainable standard of health, beginning with ensuring healthcare for the child before birth through maternal care, and after birth by safeguarding the child from exposure to epidemic diseases through mandatory vaccination, as well as guaranteeing their right to care and treatment. To further this endeavor, the Algerian legislature has granted children the right to social insurance and encouraged parents to adopt healthy child-rearing practices. Additionally, it has prohibited the sale of substances harmful to children's health, such as drugs, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco, to this vulnerable group.
