Abstract
Abstract In the realm of contemporary literature, the city transcends its conventional portrayal as a mere geographical space comprised of architecture, inhabitants, and civilizational details, limited to a specific timeframe. Instead, it assumes a role as a constructive narrative element, deriving its attributes from the confines of the author's vision and the values and behaviors of its inhabitants. In Ibrahim Nasrallah's novel, "The Second War of the Dog," the city transforms into a parallel narrative, offering novel possibilities for exploration and revelation. Within its boundaries, it accommodates diverse characters, ranging from devoted mothers to cunning thieves, exemplary leaders to immoral pimps. The focus of our study is to elucidate the contemporary novel's strategies in utilizing the element of place (the city) as a canvas shaped by traditional literary conventions. Résumé: Dans le roman contemporain, la ville ne devient pas un espace géographique avec son architecture, ses habitants et les détails de la civilisation formés comme un résumé d'une époque seulement, mais elle devient plutôt un élément narratif constructif, tirant ses traits des limites de la vision qui meuble le travail, et des limites des valeurs et des comportements des personnes qui l'ont habité. Dans le roman "La seconde guerre du chien" d'Ibrahim Nasrallah, la ville devient un autre texte parallèle qui offre une nouvelle possibilité d'exploration et de découverte. Notre étude tente de montrer les stratégies du roman contemporain dans l'exploitation de l'élément de lieu (la ville), qui diffère des méthodes d'écriture traditionnelles. ملخص: لا تغدو المدينة في الرواية المعاصرة حيزا جغرافيا بعمارته وبشره وتفاصيل الحضارة المشكّلة كتلخيص لزمن فقط، بل تصير عنصرا سرديا بانيا، يكتسب ملامحه من حدود الرؤيا التي تؤثث العمل، ومن حدود قيم وسلوك البشر الذين عمروها. ففي رواية "حرب الكلب الثانية" لإبراهيم نصر الله تغدو المدينة نصا آخرا موازيا يتيح إمكانية جديدة للكشف والاكتشاف، فملامحها هي ظلال باهتة لحياة الانفساخ والتشوّه، وحال المسخ والتشظي والتمزّق، تلامس حيوات شخصياتها من الخارج، ما يشي بفجائعية المشهد من الداخل، الذي يجلّي تشوّه الشخصية حين تتبعثر وتصبح الوجه الآخر للعملة التي تَرفُض، فلا تعرف إن كان صاحبها مصلحا أم مروضا، ملحدا أم موحدا، لصا أم نزيها، قائدا أم قوادا. دراستنا تحاول أن تبيّن استراتيجيات الرواية المعاصرة في تشغيل عنصر المكان (المدينة) المزورِّ عن أبجديات التأثيث التقليدية.
