Abstract: This research aims to identify the most prominent features of the image of the communist presented in contemporary Mediterranean novels, drawing on two novels from two different cultures united by the Mediterranean basin and the theme of communist anti-colonialism in the Mediterranean region: The first, "Of Our Wounded Brothers," by the French writer Joseph Ondras, who chose the character of the communist fighter in the National Liberation Front (FLN), Fernand Iveton, as his protagonist; and the second, "The Shepherds of Arcadia," by the Algerian writer Mohamed Fetiline, who chose the character of the communist fighter in the FLN, Raymonde Pichard, as one of his protagonists. This is achieved by examining all aspects surrounding the communist character in both novels, understanding the features of the image presented by each novelist, attempting to find common ground between the two novels in portraying the communist character, an image imposed by the post-colonial context, and determining the extent to which each novelist focused on a specific aspect of that image.
