Authors : Benaired Aissa . Zian Mohamed . Benbali Sedik .

Abstract

The rapid expansion of English-Medium Instruction (EMI) in universities worldwide has posed both a challenge and an opportunity for instructors. As universities worldwide increasingly implement EMI in a bid to win over international students and gain a competitive edge in a competitive environment, many instructors face uncertainty about their role and effectiveness in employing best-fit teaching approaches. In this article, reflective practice is discussed and analysed as a key tool for EMI instructors to confront such a challenge, develop professionally, and in a long run, boost students' academic achievement. By participating in reflective practice, EMI instructors can conduct a critical analysis of values, beliefs, and approaches to instruction, and in a deliberate manner, develop a more effective and planned instruction model. In addition, in this article, a model for reflective practice and tools for remodelling instruction for EMI instructors have been proposed.
