Authors : Kouider El Ouahed Fatiha . Zeddam Badra Hasnia .

Abstract

The massive, forced experiment in remote work during the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the adoption of hybrid work as a structured, permanent model. This paper synthesizes recent literature to review the impacts, benefits, and challenges of this significant shift. The hybrid model offers profound benefits, including enhanced employee flexibility, improved work-life balance, and potential for greater productivity. However, it also presents critical challenges: it can create an unequal playing field, amplify social isolation, complicate team building, and increase risks of employee burnout. This review frames hybrid work as a key risk/reward choice, highlighting the need for deliberate leadership practices to mitigate its liabilities and potential.
