Some observers argue that Algerian society is shaped by patriarchal structures, globalization, and the enduring effects of colonialism. Despite its conservative and religious orientation, and notwithstanding efforts to reconcile religious and cultural elements, the political, economic, and social situation is deteriorating, particularly with regard to the family which is experiencing a multi-dimensional and multi-level transitional crisis. Significant imbalances threaten family cohesion and the integrity of society as a whole. These are exacerbated by feminist organizations that advance their agendas through legal channels. Western feminist ideologies and the responses of families to these ideas contribute to these tensions. Concerns also arise regarding secular associations that disregard the regulations governing their activities and the purposes for which they were established which has led to social and ethical problematics, including deepening conflicts, dismantling the family structure, and the collapse of innate values.
