Abstract

This study analyzes the impact of digital transformation on financial inclusion in Algeria over the period 2004–2023 using econometric models. The analysis employs OLS as a preliminary model and ARDL to examine the dynamic relationship between financial inclusion and key variables including internet usage, mobile penetration, and GDP. The results indicate that internet usage and mobile penetration have a positive and significant effect on financial inclusion, with mobile technology being the most influential factor. The impact of internet appears dynamic, showing delayed effects over time. In contrast, GDP does not have a significant impact. The ARDL results reveal the absence of a long-term relationship, suggesting that the effect of digital transformation is mainly short-term. The study highlights the importance of strengthening digital infrastructure and policies to enhance financial inclusion.
