This article explores how insights from pragmatics and discourse analysis can inform the integration of culture into foreign-language (FL) classrooms. It particularly focuses on reading and listening skills as effective vehicles for cultural awareness and intercultural competence. By situating language learning within its social and cultural frameworks, this study argues that successful communication extends beyond grammatical proficiency to include sensitivity to pragmatic norms and discourse conventions. Drawing on theoretical and pedagogical literature, the paper proposes practical strategies for fostering cultural understanding in reading and listening courses. Integrating cultural components not only enriches communicative competence but also promotes empathy, objectivity, and mutual respect among learners from diverse backgrounds.
