Abstract

This article investigates the level of cultural awareness and motivation to learn the culture of the English language by EFL second year learners at the Teachers’ Training school of Constantine (ENSC). A questionnaire was administered to a sample of students. The data showed that few students display sufficient awareness of the notion of culture while most of them show a desire and positive attitudes towards studying the English culture especially the big ‘C’ cultural elements. However, the majority are not sure of their acceptance, understanding, and respect of the different social behaviours of the target culture community, which represent the small ‘c’ culture.
