In today’s global economy, translation is no longer a simple linguistic process but a strategic asset that underpins international cooperation. It facilitates cross-border trade, promotes cultural dialogue, and safeguards identity in an era of globalization. Beyond communication, it also enables legal, political, and scientific collaboration by ensuring precise knowledge transfer. Yet, the industry is confronted with obstacles such as technological disruption, economic instability, and ethical dilemmas. Emerging opportunities lie in artificial intelligence, hyper-localization, and translation as a tool of cultural diplomacy. Case studies from e-commerce and public health illustrate how vital translation has become in addressing global challenges. To adapt sustainably, combining human expertise with AI and reinforcing continuous professional development are essential to guarantee quality, ethics, and cultural sensitivity.
