Exploring The Impact Of In-service Teacher Training: A Case Study Of Secondary School English Teachers In Bechar

Authors : Filali Hicham . Nebbou Khouloud .

Abstract

The research paper examines the effectiveness of in-service training programs for secondary school English teachers in Bechar, Algeria, focusing on how professional development enhances teaching quality. It identifies challenges such as limited resources, geographic isolation, and heavy workloads that hinder the training's effectiveness. Data from 42 teachers reveal that although they are motivated and appreciate the training, many find it insufficiently relevant due to a lack of follow-up, poor adaptation to local contexts, and difficulties related to students' low motivation and proficiency. Despite these obstacles, the study concludes that in-service training plays a significant role in teachers' professional growth and can positively influence student learning outcomes.
