This study aims to examine the role of international economic blocs in assisting their member states during financial crises. It focuses on the case of Greece during its sovereign debt crisis, which brought the country close to bankruptcy, as well as the collective crisis faced by all European Union member states during the COVID-19 pandemic. The study analyzes the policies, decisions, and measures adopted to rescue individual member states or the Union as a whole. It also identifies the key lessons learned from this economic integration, highlighting both successes and shortcomings in managing individual and collective financial crises. This analysis is particularly relevant in light of debates questioning the future sustainability of the European Union.
