التفكير في الحداثة: حداثة واحدة أم حداثات متعددة

الملخص
هدف البحث إلى التفكير نقديا في الحداثة الغربية كمشروع تم تصوره نظريا والتسويغ له من قبل المركزية الغربية ( الأورو- أمريكية) وصفه مشروعا كونيا لابد لجميع المجتمعات على اختلاف ثقافاتها من الأخذ به أن أرادت أن تلج إلى عوالم الأزمنة الحديثة. وينطلق البحث من فرضية أن ثمة مسارات متعددة وليس مسارا واحدا كما زعمت نظرية التحديث الكلاسيكية للولوج إلى عالم الحداثة، وأن هذه المسارات تتحدد حسب السياقات الحضارية والثقافية واللغوية والدينية للشعوب والأمم. ولكي يصل الباحث إلى غايته المعلنة استلزم هذا منه عرض ونقد نظرية التحديث الكلاسيكية، ومناقشة وتفنيد دعاويها. وبالمقابل سعى الباحث إلى تجاوز نظرية الحداثة الكلاسيكية بتقديم مقاربة نظرية بديلة تستند إلى طرح ( الحداثات المتعددة). وانتهى البحث إلى أن للحداثة مسارات متعددة وليس مساراً واحداً، تنشأ في التحليل الأخير كمحصلة للمواجهات بين الحداثة الغربية من ناحية، والتقاليد الثقافية والخبرات التاريخية للمجتمعات الأخرى من الناحية الثانية. فكل المجتمعات تجلب بسياقاتها الاجتماعية - الثقافية الخاصة بها نسختها من الحداثة. This research aims to shed light on Schmuel Eisenstadt's concept of "multiple modernities," presenting the main points that emerge in the literature on multiple modernities in general, and in Eisenstadt's work in particular. This presentation necessitated a brief overview of classical modernization theory, followed by a discussion of the objections and criticisms raised by Eisenstadt and proponents of multiple modernities regarding it. The research concludes with some critical observations directed at the concept of "multiple modernities," and the extent to which this approach has succeeded in offering an alternative perspective, addressing many of the fundamental problems posed by classical modernization theory while simultaneously avoiding its most serious shortcomings. The research concludes that modernity has multiple paths, not a single one. Instead of speaking of a single modernity, we speak of "multiple modernities" that, in the final analysis, arise as a result of the encounters between Western modernity, on the one hand, and the cultural traditions and historical experiences of other societies, on the other. Each society, within its own socio-cultural context, brings its modernization.
