ABSTRACT This study aimed to analyze the differences in emotional intelligence (EI) among 108 clinical and educational psychology students at Tlemcen University. A descriptive design was used with data collected through the Bar-On and Parker EI Inventory standardized for the Algerian context. Statistical tools included means, standard deviations, variance analysis, and t-tests. Results showed that female students outperformed males in overall EI, notably in intrapersonal competence, general mood, and positive impression. No significant gender differences were observed in stress regulation, adaptability, or social competence. Students over 25 scored higher in total EI, though subscale scores remained comparable across age groups. Academic specialization had no statistically significant effect. Findings suggest gender and age may influence emotional development more than academic specialization.
