Psychology Students Attitudes Towards Statistics: A Field Study On A Sample Of Psychology Students At Djilali Liabes University

Abstract
Abstract: This study aims to assess psychology students’ attitudes towards the importance of statistics in their academic journey. Some misconceptions about this subject were observed, as well as a reluctance among some students regarding statistics, despite its significance in their studies, particularly when conducting research. This is particularly pertinent for students preparing for graduation and their thesis projects. The study was conducted with a sample of psychology students (Educational Psychology and Clinical Psychology) at Djilali Liabes University in Sidi Bel Abbes. To address the topic of the study, the researcher developed a questionnaire based on a theoretical framework and previous studies that addressed similar topics, as well as reviewing some measures. The questionnaire focused on the importance of statistics and consisted of twenty questions, which were subjected to psychometric testing for validity and reliability. The results indicated that the instrument is valid and reliable. The findings concluded the following: 1. There is a positive attitude towards the subject of statistics among the study sample. 2. There are no gender differences in attitudes towards statistics. 3. There are no differences in attitudes towards statistics attributable to differences in specialisation ملخص: تهدف هذه الدراسة إلى الوقوف على مستوى إتجاه طلبة علم النفس نحو أهمية الاحصاءفي مسارهم الدراسي ، حيث لا حظنا وجود بعض التصورات الخاطئة نحو هذه المادة و التمسنا من ناحية أخرى نفور بعض الطلبة من هذه المادة رغم أهميتها في مسارهم الدراسي من جهة ومن جهة أخرى أهميتها في إنجاز بحوثهم و خاصة الطلبة المقبلين على التخرج لتحضير مذكرات تخرجهم ، و قد أجريت هذه الدراسة على عينة من طلبة علم النفس ( علم النفس التربوي و علم النفس العيادي ) بجامعة جيلالي ليابس سيدي بلعباس ، و للاجابة على موضوع الدراسة قامت الباحثة ببناء إستبيان معتمدتا في ذلك على الإطار النظري و الدراسات السابقة التي تناولت مثل هذا الموضوع ، وكذا الاطلاع على بعض المقاييس ، وقد إقتصرت محتويات الإستبيان على أهمية الاحصاء ، و تكون المقياس في صورته النهائية من عشرون سؤال (20) وقد خضع للخصائص السيكومترية من صدق و ثبات ، فتبين من خلال النتائج المحصل عليها أنه يتمتع بالصدق و الثبات ، وقد خلصت النتائج إلى ما يلي 1 ـــ يوجد إتجاه ايجابي لعينة الدراسة نحو مادة الإحصاء 2 ـــ لا يوجد فرق في مستوى الاتجاه نحو مادة الإحصاء يعزى لاختلاف الجنس 3 ـــ لا يوجد فرق في مستوى الاتجاه نحو مادة الإحصاء يعزى لاختلاف التخصص
