In this article, we present an archaeological and historical study of an unpublished coin hoard discovered in 2008 in Hammam Ouled Ali, in the department of Guelma (Algeria). The discovery occurred during construction work for a thermal bath owned by a private individual, where 301 coins were found. These were the coins collected on site by the National Gendarmerie unit which had been stored in a broken jar. After obtaining a ministerial authorization for the study in 2009, we received the hoard from the Guelma Theater Museum, where it had been kept without being exhibited. We then began the cleaning process, which took a considerable amount of time and allowed us to remove impurities from most of the coins. This enabled us to read the inscriptions and date the hoard to the end of the 3rd century and the beginning of the 4th century AD, a period known as the Tetrarchy. The study included detailed readings of the obverse — describing the head’s direction, its features, bust types, and inscriptions — while for the reverse, we focused on iconographic patterns, their meanings, and the mint workshops.
