The Networked Society And Social Disintegration: A Study On The Impact Of Digital Transformation On Social Structure

Abstract
The contemporary world is experiencing profound transformations driven by the digital revolution, giving rise to a networked society where social relations transcend time and place. This has reconfigured traditional social structures and generated new forms of social disintegration. The central question addressed is the extent to which the networked society, as a product of digital transformation, contributes to reinforcing or reproducing such disintegration in contemporary societies. The study highlights the dialectical relationship between digital transformation and social change, seeking to connect classical sociological approaches to disintegration (Durkheim, Parsons) with Manuel Castells’s perspective on the networked society. It offers a contemporary sociological reading of digitalization’s effects on the family, solidarity, and social integration, particularly within the Arab context. The objectives are to analyze the dimensions of the networked society, interpret disintegration in this framework, and assess the digital divide’s role in deepening inequalities, ultimately proposing pathways toward fostering integration.
