This research explores the sociological dimensions of structural and operational obstacles that hinder the sustainability of startups in Algeria. Relying on data gathered from 147 university professors at Tamenghiste University, the study adopts a hybrid methodology that merges statistical analysis of Likert-scale surveys with in-depth insights from semi-structured interviews. The analysis uncovers how fragmented planning processes, rigid legal frameworks, and disconnected institutional support systems restrict the adaptability of emerging businesses. Moreover, it exposes a fundamental tension between the inflexible pace of state bureaucracy and the fast-evolving demands of the entrepreneurial market. The findings underscore the importance of informal social networks in compensating for institutional shortcomings. To address these challenges, the study advocates for overhauling existing legislation, fostering closer collaboration between academic institutions and startup incubators, and building stronger administrative capabilities.
