Evaluating The Performance Of The Zakat Fund In Economic Financing In Algeria: An Analytical Study For The Period 2003-2023

Abstract
This research paper aims to evaluate the performance of the Zakat Fund in Algeria during the period 2003–2023. The study adopts a descriptive and analytical approach by presenting various fundamental concepts of zakat and analyzing the performance of the Zakat Fund. The study concluded that the Zakat Fund in Algeria demonstrates weak performance in financing the economy. The share of zakat in Gross National Income (GNI) amounted to only 0.006%, compared to 3% in oil-producing countries such as Saudi Arabia. This means that the Fund collects only 1 out of every 500 monetary units that should theoretically be collected, which weakens its ability to influence economic activity.
