This study aims to review and analyze the existing literature on the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in finance. In doing so, we conducted a bibliometric analysis of 193 relevant articles indexed in the SCOPUS database between 2005 and 2024. The findings reveal that the number of publications on AI applications in finance has increased gradually starting from 2017 to present. The study also presented the lists of most productive authors and the most relevant journals that published more numbers of articles on this topic. The findings from this research also showed that "machine learning" (ML) has emerged as the most frequently term used in the reviewed literature. Notably, the combination of ML and risk management has been identified as the most frequently discussed topic. In addition, the study also illustrated that the most important countries that examined this topic are the US, UK, and China.
