الملخص

Abstract: The complexity of grammar and morphology has long been a subject of scholarly debate, and these linguistic disciplines continue to pose significant challenges to students. Historically, such difficulties stemmed primarily from excessive abstraction and a strong reliance on logic and interpretation, which hindered the comprehension of linguistic concepts. Despite the emergence of recent reform movements and advocates of pedagogical simplification, the situation has remained largely unchanged and has even deteriorated within contemporary university contexts. Morphology, in particular, has received considerable attention in higher education, being designated by specialists and educational authorities as a core subject among the essential academic units that cannot be disregarded for numerous pedagogical reasons. This study seeks to examine the current state and prospects of teaching morphology at the university level, with special attention to the phenomenon of students’ apathy and its impact on academic performance. It further aims to identify the teaching methods currently adopted and to analyze the causes underlying students’ reluctance to attend lectures, drawing upon a field study conducted with second-year students of Linguistic and Literary Studies at the University of Mila.
