English as a Foreign Language (EFL) is vital for global communication, yet learners often struggle to develop the essential productive skills it requires. This study delves into the challenges second-year LMD students at Naama University have in developing writing and speaking skills throughout the course of a semester. The study involved 33 second-year LMD students and used a mixed-methods approach. As part of the approach, classroom observations, audio recordings, and targeted feedback were utilized to identify key challenges in both writing and speaking. The qualitative data from classroom observations and audio recordings revealed detailed insights into students' performance and identified specific hurdles to mastering certain skills. The quantitative part entailed implementing tailored feedback mechanisms, which were evaluated using pre-and post-assessments to determine their impact on student performance. The findings emphasize the relevance of feedback and activity-based learning in improving EFL productive skills and make practical recommendations for teaching approaches.
