Authors : Ben Messahel Alaerrahmane .

Abstract

This article presents a theoretical study related to a new approach in the field of international relations under the name of critical geopolitics. It also presents the epistemic and methodological foundations that it adopts, especially with regard to the part of geopolitical discourse and the methodology of its analysis. Thus, the study raises a discussion about the discourse in the field of critical geopolitics as a tool for social research, with an introduction A clearer presentation of the methodology used for its analysis, considering discourses as a pivotal study in this discipline, and the most subjective element of research and the most subject to the influence of (geographical) policy practitioners. The study concludes that critical geopolitics relies on Foucauldian studies of discourse based on the duality of power/knowledge, the discourse theory of Laclau and Mouffe, and critical analysis of discourse.
