The absence of a universally accepted jurisprudential definition of normalization has resulted in divergent perspectives on the underlying reasons for the move towards normalization by Arab countries. This diversity of opinion is further compounded by the unique circumstances that characterise each nation. It is evident that even the Gulf states, which are characterised by analogous economic conditions, exhibit divergent motivations for engaging in the process of establishing formal relations with the Zionist entity. However, there is a consensus regarding the risks associated with the process of normalisation with the Zionist entity, both for the Arab states them selves and for the Palestinian cause.
