Positionality is a pivotal concept in qualitative research, embodying the researcher's recognition of their social, cultural, and cognitive positions relative to the participants. This notion sheds light on the "inside and outside" paradox, where the tension lies between the researcher's "insider" role, enriched with profound insights and understanding of the phenomenon, and the "outsider" role, which offers a more detached, objective viewpoint essential for scientific analysis free from personal biases. This paper will delve into this paradox, discussing its significant impact on the methodologies employed in the collection, interpretation, and analysis of qualitative data.
