The incorporation of artificial intelligence (AI) across multiple sectors has initiated a transformational wave. This research looks at how AI is transforming academic practices in higher education. It emphasizes AI assisted writing and communication tools investigating what it does to student academic writing quality which includes elements of clarity, coherence, and total quality as well as the academic integrity which includes originality, plagiarism and citation practices. The paper performs a critical analysis of AI assisted tools, which is to put forth what we see as the issues of AI’s function in change to student engagement, teacher roles, and the evolution of the academic environment in university settings. The final results demonstrate a mix of what AI brings to the table in terms of benefit and challenges. At the same time, this analysis looks at the effects on writing quality, academic integrity, student engagement, and the changing roles of teachers and students in contemporary university education.
