The Impact Of Social Media Use On The Social Values Of University Students A Survey Study Of Students From The Faculty Of Media And Communication Sciences Who Use Facebook During

Abstract

: The current study aims to identify the impact of using social media platforms, specifically Facebook, on the social values of students at the Faculty of Media and Communication Sciences. This group extensively uses social media for communication and interaction, leading to noticeable changes in their value system. To address the research problem and answer the study's questions, the survey method was applied to a purposive sample consisting of 115 third-year undergraduate students in Media and Communication Sciences during October and November 2024. The most significant findings of the study include:  The study results showed that Facebook is the most frequently used platform compared to other social networks.  The results indicated that the study sample is more interested in entertainment and educational topics than other subjects.  The study found that the content displayed on Facebook often conflicts with the social values of the respondents.  The results showed that excessive use of Facebook negatively impacts social values.
