Despite the ongoing debate in translation between being faithful to the text and distorting its meaning, translation remains an essential tool for transmitting knowledge and preserving languages. While translation is often understood as the process of rewriting a text in another language, this view fails in light of major philosophical discussions on the subject. These debates challenged fundamental concepts such as meaning, discourse, truth and culture that either stripped translation of meaning or opened multiple interpretations. Among these influential contributions, Barbara Cassin stands out for her advocacy of philosophizing in languages through translation. Her philosophical experiment aims to reshape meaning by engaging with differences and embracing the challenge of translating the untranslatable. This approach enables self-understanding and deeper comprehension of the Other within a global vision that desecrate the Logos’ sanctity and rejects the Globish’s dominance. In Cassin’s view, every act of translation is a philosophical awareness of languages’ limits. From this philosophical perspective, one asks: How does Barbara Cassin explore the relationship between language and philosophy, and how does she define the act of translation? What is the philosophical significance of the untranslatable? Does this perspective make the translator’s work complex and the translation lose its flexibility?
