Abstract: Examining the content of environmental legislation and regulation in Algeria, and its alignment with international commitments and developmental necessities, necessitates addressing the preventive legal mechanisms established to protect environmental rights. These mechanisms are considered a manifestation of sustainable development principles, serving as integral pillars aimed at achieving the desired objectives of strategies designed to ensure development for present and future generations. Building on this, the goal of this research paper is to highlight Algeria's commitment to the precautionary principle and its incorporation into environmental legislation and regulations, which include the preventive mechanisms the state uniquely employs to safeguard the environment.
