Authors : Lagoug Khadidja .

Abstract

Abstract: This study seeks to evaluate the semantic memory abilities of deaf children who have received cochlear implants. The study was conducted on an intentionally selected sample of 3 children aged 6-7 years. A descriptive case study approach was employed, using Yassin Ajjal's semantic memory test designed for children aged 6-10 years. The findings indicated an above-average level with some challenges in tasks such as naming, identifying body parts, semantic categorization, semantic vocabulary, and semantic drawing. Moreover, a medium to below-average level was observed with more significant difficulties in functional sentence connection, verbal fluency, semantic segmentation, and sound identification.
