The National Human Rights Council As A National Mechanism For The Promotion And Protection Of Rights And Freedoms

Authors : Cherabcha Linda .

Abstract

The principles of intrinsic human entitlements have become a focal point of discussion at both the domestic and international arenas, prominently reflected in universal agreements and local legal frameworks. These prerogatives, integral to the essence of humanity, have been systematically incorporated into legislative instruments across nations. Algeria, as part of its legal evolution, embedded these values within its core statutes. To actualize these commitments, Algeria established entities devoted to ensuring ethical standards and advancing the rights of individuals and communities. The constitutional revision of 2016 marked a transformative phase by introducing a specialized entity named the National Council for Ethical Oversight and Social Equity. This initiative was designed to address longstanding critiques of its predecessor, the Advisory Commission on Civic Responsibilities, and to implement meaningful structural reforms. By emphasizing the reinforcement and elevation of fundamental liberties, the council seeks to cultivate a more equitable and inclusive societal framework
