The Harbingers Facing International Efforts To Protect The Environment

Authors : Meramria Brahim . Bouadjila Nabil .

Abstract

Abstract: Despite the efforts made at the international level to protect the environment, there remain significant challenges that hinder effective cooperation in this regard. One of the most prominent of these obstacles is the non-binding nature of international environmental law. The international laws and treaties related to environmental protection do not have a binding character, making compliance voluntary for states. This weakens the effectiveness of the application of these laws and treaties globally, as countries may backtrack on their environmental commitments due to short-term political or economic considerations. Addressing this problem by strengthening the binding nature of international environmental law is of utmost importance to ensure the effectiveness of global efforts to protect the environment.
