This research paper aims to highlight both advantages and inherent risks associated with electronic payment systems for consumers, with a particular focus on the Algerian context. Employing a descriptive research methodology, we have leveraged an array of sources including scholarly books, dissertations, and journal articles pertinent to electronic payments, as well as official websites of regulatory entities like the "SATIM" company overseeing these transactions in Algeria. We deduce that the adoption of electronic payment systems is an essential progression, driven by the rapid advancement in various sectors via information and communication technologies that offer substantial benefits. Nonetheless, these technologies are accompanied by risks that could precipitate financial losses through either inadvertent misuse or deliberate exploitation by others. Consequently, it is crucial for regulatory bodies to fortify consumer protection in electronic services by enhancing information security measures to thwart the unauthorized access to personal data.
