The reformation of the separation of powers principle in Algeria, notably after the constitutional amendment in 2020, exemplifies a dynamic adaptation emphasizing the uniqueness and autonomy of the governmental triad. This framework facilitates mechanisms of cooperation and mutual oversight between the legislative and executive branches, aimed at maintaining equilibrium. Nonetheless, opinions among Algerian legal scholars vary regarding the effectiveness of this balance. Some commend the constitutional framers for empowering these branches, while others critique these powers as superficial in comparison to the dominant presidential powers.
