The Phenomenon Of Democratic Transition In Political Systems: A Conceptual Study

Abstract
This research paper explores the shifts towards democratic reform observed across various political systems. It seeks to clarify the essence of democratic transition, charting the phases it encompasses, and delineating the predominant patterns and manifestations it may adopt. Furthermore, the study investigates the key indicators of democratic transition and the challenges it potentially encounters. Concluding that democratic transition is inherently a protracted process, it follows a chronological progression beginning with the dismantling of authoritarian regimes and culminating in the enhancement and consolidation of democratic norms. Central to this transition are foundational principles such as political and party pluralism, the integrity and regularity of elections, the assurance of peaceful power transitions, and the establishment of robust political institutions.
