Résumé Cet article examine le rôle du FOS (Français sur Objectifs Spécifiques) comme alternative face au recul du français en Algérie, particulièrement dans l’enseignement supérieur scientifique et technique. Il met en évidence les apports du FOS, notamment son adaptation aux besoins académiques et professionnels. A travers l’exemple de l’ESB (Ecole Supérieure de Banque), l’étude montre les limites des dispositifs existants et propose des pistes de remédiation pour une meilleure adéquation entre les contenus pédagogiques, les besoins des apprenants et les attentes de l’institution. Le FOS, apparait ainsi comme le levier stratégique pour améliorer la maîtrise du français et renforce la formation universitaire et professionnelle en Algérie. Abstract This article examines the role of FSP (French for Specific Purposes) as an alternative in the face of the decline of French in Algeria, particularly in higher scientific and technical education. After having recalled the complex status of French and the difficulties encountered buy students, it highlights the contributions of FSP, notably its adaptation to academic and professional needs. Through the example of the Higher School of Banking, the study shows the limits of the existing devices and proposes avenues of remediation for a better adequacy between the pedagogical contents, the expectations of the learners and the requirements of the labor market. FSP thus appears as a strategic lever to improve the mastery of French and strengthen university and professional training in Algeria.
