The Distinct Nature Of The Wto Agreement On Trade-related Intellectual Property Rights

Abstract
However, linking intellectual property to international trade clearly emerged with the creation of the World Trade Organization under the Marrakesh Agreement of 1995, which introduced the WTO Agreement on Trade-Related Intellectual Property Rights (known in English as the TRIPS Agreement). This agreement contains important provisions regarding the nature of intellectual property rights related to trade, set forth in special rules. This shift reflects an interest in what develops international trade for the benefit of countries whether economically advanced or developing by focusing on progress, technology, and expertise across various fields. Such orientation is explained in the content of the TRIPS Agreement.
