Discussing sustainable development as a purposeful process requires openness to many spheres of life -economic, social, political, environmental, and intellectual-without overlooking the human and technological factors involved. It is a complex, multidimensional process that affects society in all its components. Even though many scholars differ in defining its concept and the conditions for its realization, it remains one of the fundamental concepts for achieving societal progress and prosperity. Accordingly, this paper seeks to present some readings aimed at understanding and deconstructing the issues associated with sustainable development, by examining the requirements of this process through its indicators, dimensions, and conditions for achievement, considering it a comprehensive process that goes beyond the purely economic framework, relying on a set of interrelated concepts and elements.
