This article analyzes the theoretical foundations and macroeconomic implications of digital currencies, focusing on the digital dinar project in Algeria. The latter is presented as a strategic lever for modernizing the financial system, strengthening inclusion, and consolidating national monetary sovereignty. The study highlights major opportunities, such as payment efficiency, combating the informal economy, and improving the transmission of monetary policy. However, implementation faces complex technological, legal, and societal challenges. In conclusion, the author asserts that the success of this transition hinges on a gradual, coordinated approach, rigorously adapted to the specific characteristics of the Algerian economy, to ensure harmonious and secure integration.
